Velvet Waters Live will stage the first ever Sunshine Coast based singing competition known as “Sing, Sing, Sing!” at its Bulcock Street venue starting on Friday the 23rd April 2010. The event will consist of heats each Friday night for six weeks, followed by a Semi Final on Sunday the 30rd May and then the Grand Final on Sunday the 6th June. The competition will be open to all singers 18+ years old. The contestants will not only be vying for local recognition but also the 3 fantastic prizes which will be:
 

 First Prize – the “Ultimate Rock Star Experience” including:

  • Performing live at Velvet Waters with the Velvet Waters Band
  • Ashjade Stretch Limo to take you and 5 friends to the venue
  • 5 VIP tickets to your performance for your friends
  • Accommodation for 2 at the beautiful Rumba Resort on Bulcock Beach with Breakfast included.
  • Professional Hair and Makeup by Pelican Waters Hair Design before the show
  • PLUS a 2 song demo recorded at Heliport studios.

Terms and conditions of the 2010 Sing Sing Sing Competition: 

  1. The competition is organised and promoted by Velvet Waters Live, 97 Bulcock Street Caloundra.
  2. All contestants must be 18 years of age or older on the 10th April 2010.
  3. Professional entertainers who make a living from singing may not enter the competition.
  4. Contestants may not use live props. This includes back-up singers, dancers or animals. Non-human props such as costumes and other accessories are permitted.
  5. Contestants are not allowed to leave the stage or stage area during their performance. This includes singing or performing within the audience.
  6. Song time limit is 4 minutes. Songs going over the 4 minute time limit will be cut off.
  7. Contestants may sing the same song as another contestant.
  8. Songs containing vulgar or explicit sex lyrics will not be allowed.
  9. Contestants will sing one judged song. If at the end of the first judged song there is a tie, the contestants, who are tied for first place only, will sing another judged song. Should this method not break the tie, the judges will collaborate between each other and decide a winner.
  10. Contestants, their family or associates are not allowed to have contact with a contest judge before or during the contest.
  11. The order in which each contestant competes will be determined by random drawing.
  12. Contestants will be scored on::

J       Vocal Ability (rhythm/ pitch/ phrasing)

J     Stage Presence (movement/ confidence/ command)   

J     Appearance (attire)

  1. Decisions of the judges are final. No arguing with judges is allowed.
  2. No family members of anyone working at Velvet Waters are allowed to enter the competition.
  3. Contestants will make themselves available when required at Velvet Waters in Caloundra in respect to rehearsals, publicity, and performing.
